Template Question

Hello, you seem the user with most new articles, so you could probably know. I have learned from the discusion that there is a set (a singleton?) of templates for individual entry pages. How can I use it for a new article? Just creating the link via brackets does not work, for it uses no other template but the "blank" one, ie. one with no text. It is cumbersome to cut and paste the section headers from an existing page. --TMA 16:41, 25. 8. 2004 (UTC)

Nové heslo is a correct term for "New Entry". I would suggest an unification on the section headers capitalization.
For now I have changed the capitalization to the most prevalent form i.e. lowercase. It could be of utility to
standardize a single format of entries. The English guidelines could be adopted (and adapted) See

illustrationg the idea in šablona:test.

I do not think the template is polished yet. The thing I am lacking most is an consistent way of handling etymologies.
The etymology may be dependent on the meaning. Eg. klika has different etymology fr:clique (or similar) when reffering to
a lobby-group, different in the case of en:doorknob, and different yet in the case of en:luck.
The second major problem is that the translations are not associated with word, but with word---meaning pair.
(The same example. Another example: černý in ,,černý pasažér`` is translated into English as ,,blind passenger,``
not ,,black passenger``. In most other respects the en:black is the appropriate equivalent.
If you have any suggestions it would be most helpful (to me) if you would write me.
Another topic. When I edit a template it remains red, ie. it pretends to be nonexistent, even though it has content
filled. Thus the user is redirected to the edit page, instead of the ,,normal`` page. The same goes for pages in
Wikislovník namespace eg. Wikislovník:rod mužský neživotný. Do you know why it is so? Do I need to be a sysop
to bring such pages into real existence instead of this semiexistence?

Templates again

The problem with numbering of meanings (apart from the omnipreset question: What constitutes a separate meaning?) is that these should be assigned automatically. There are numbered lists. Nice, but suppose that meanings 1 and 3 have known etymology, whereas 2 does not. Maybe we should resort to manual numbering after all. Or do you know how to avoid it?

The [1] numbering scheme seems the most efficient. The other options for Czech numbering are:
(1) mostly in mathematics 2) common in all texts (a) mathematics b) other texts (A), (vii), mathematics
3. the most common form (however not readily distingushable from the running text. [4] is the option
that is infuenced by English. Other possibilities include 1. 1.
The curly braces are not an option for Czech texts.
To sum the previous: more stars == more common, more pluses == more viable for us. *? == half * +? = half +

,,Mně`` vs. ,,mi``: Both are corect, the former carries emphasis. While the emphasis is not written it should be placed on the begining: ,,Mně odpusťte`` (forgive *ME*).

,,Mnohé chyby`` is a bit formal and/or dated. (Which does not mean that you should not use it. I do use such older constructs regularly.)
